Daniel Hunter Selected as City Manager

City Council voted unanimously Monday night to select Daniel Hunter as the City Manager for Lincoln City. He has been the city manager pro tem since October 13, 2025.

Hunter arrives in Lincoln City with 11 years of local government experience in Oregon. He comes from the City of The Dalles, where he was hired as an Administrative Fellow. He was promoted twice, while with The Dalles, up to the Human Resource Director.

After graduating from Oregon City High School, he spent time in Montana, before joining the United States Air Force, being stationed at Fairfield AFB, near Spokane, Washington.

Following his military service, he moved back to Oregon to attend Linfield College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. From there, Hunter returned to Montana to work for the Montana Department of Transportation. While in Montana, he completed a Master’s degree in Public Administration, and after graduation he was hired by the City of The Dalles.

Mayor Susan Wahlke shared, “Since Daniel Hunter has served for the last few months in a temporary capacity, Council and staff have been able to learn his leadership style and how it works for Lincoln City. He has been able to get to know us and is happy here. On January 26th Council agreed to hire Daniel Hunter as our next City Manager. I look forward to Mr. Hunter being a part of our community.”

Daniel Hunter expressed, “Lincoln City is a beautiful community with an engaged population. It is the kind of place city managers hope to end up. It is my honor to serve this community and the City Council as your City Manager.”
